From Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, these latin hand drums have a hot spicy drum beat sound. Congas, conga sets, congalitas, bongos, bow drums. The Afro/Latin hand drum is usually a harder skin than the djembe, with cow skin being the preferred animal. The hard tough skins of the latin drums are very tough and are mounted with metal tuning hardware so you can use a small hand tool like a c wrench to tighten or loosen the skin. They are played with different hand positions than the djembe drum and very fast rhythms are produced making the music really wild and hot.
